Question
I have COPD and last night had an acute exacerbation. I was admitted for the COPD and because my CPK ensymes were 45,000. I know that this is considered high, but the only symptoms other than those usually associated wth COPD exacerbation was a temp. of 103. Any ideas?
Answer
Hi Robert,
The CPK elevations mean that you have muscle inflammation or damage. This can be due to any number of causes including injury (rhabdomyalysis), use of a statin (cholesterol lowering) drug, an inflammatory condition called myositis. It could also mean that you have had a heart attack. The CPK elevation has nothing to do with your COPD. I’m sure your doctors are trying to find the cause for your CPK elevation. good luck !!
