Question
I have psoriatic arthritus. I take an injection weekly of methotrexate. I have done this for several years now. I want to quit taking it. Can I safely quit it “cold turkey?” i.e. immediately or should I take steps of some sort?
Answer
I would opt for slowly tapering it unless you are having some sort of side effect and need to be off of it quickly. Even if your arthritis and skin psoriasis are quiet, you may flare. tapering it slowly would allow you to continue methotrexate or substitute another agent. Discuss with your doctor.
