Johns Hopkins to partcipate in NIH Osteoarthritis Initiative
In an effort to find biomarkers for the development and progression of osteoarthritis (OA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has selected several research centers, including Johns Hopkins, to participate in the Osteoarthritis Initiative (OAI). The OAI is a 7-year project which will collect x-rays, biomarker information, and outcome measures from 5000 men and women over the age of 50 at risk for knee OA and will make this database available to researchers worldwide. The goal of the OAI is to merge resources and strengthen the commitment in finding biomarkers in OA.
