Question
How many left handed laptop users complain about carpal tunnel as opposed to right handed ?(I realize there are fewer left handed to begin with) I have noticed a damaging kind of heat coming from the battery or hard drive under my right hand, also a stiffening of the tendons which seems to shift among my fingers and seems more a reaction to the computer which is hot under the right hand; thus my question: is it possible the tightening of the tendons is due not to use but to the effect of being too close to the machinery?
Answer
Handedness in carpal tunnel is typically related to which hand is dominant. It is unlikely that a heat source would contribute more to carpal tunnel symptoms over-and-above repetitive stress.
