Question
I have been taking 200mg of celebrex daily for many years. Recently my general praticioner wanted to cut my daily dosage to 100mg but gave me enough pills to double the dosage if I felt it was warranted. After several days on 100mg I was in considerbly more pain so I did double the dosage but I do not seem to be getting any relief. Is it possible that two 100mg capsiles are not as effective as one 200mg? I am currently traveling outside the country and do not have access to my regular doctor.
Answer
There should be no difference in terms of drug levels or effectiveness. However after increasing the dose, it will take several days for the increased dose to achieve steady state drug levels in your blood and it may take a few weeks for the increased dose to have a clinical effect.
