I have been taking humira for psoriatic arthritis for a couple of years now. I am young and will be on the medication for many years. I am considering having breast implants – does having psoriatic arthritis or taking humira pose any additional risks to this optional surgery? Are there any additional risks with implants and the disease and humira?
Answer
Humira likely increases the risk of post-op infections, although the exact level of risk has been hard to pinpoint. The risk will vary with the type of surgical procedures. I am not aware of any negative issues of psoriatic arthritis and breast implants.
