Question
I have OA and am allergic to asprin what can I do to help control the pain?
Answer
Review your symptoms of aspirin allergies carefully with your doctor or allergist. Many times patients report an allergy to aspirin but can take other non-steroidal antiinflammatory medications (NSAIDs). If NSAIDs are out, analgesics such as acetaminophen (tylenol) or in severe cases, medications containing opioids (codeine-like medications) are used (such as percocet, darvocet, tylox, tylenol #3, vicodin, etc.) And then there may surgical approaches as well.
