Question
My mother is in her late 70’s and has osteoporosis. She has constant excruciating pain in her stomach area. She’s been seen by several doctors, but none can find anything wrong. Can you offer any suggestions?
Answer
Its impossible to diagnose your mother without seeing her. Osteoporosis does not cause pain unless there is a fracture. It is possible that she could have had a compression fracture at one of her vertebrae, with compression of a nerve causing pain to radiate into the abdominal area. Or her pain might be medication related.
