I have been told by my DR he might start 5 weeks of SUPARTZ injections in my right knee in 6 weeks. My question is How effective are these injections since my DR does not tell me it is a cure. He still says I could need replacement. Why would I need to go through these weeks of injections if it is only going to give me possibly a little time before total replacement?

I cannot take NSAIDS and Tylenol does nothing for the stiffness of my OA .I was taking Vioxx but stopped at the first reports of problems with it.I had a MI 15 yrs ago.I asked my doctor this morning what I could take in the place of Vioxx and other cox 2 medications and he said frankly I do not know with your ulcer problem.Could you please help me out.I have severe Cervical arthritis,my feet,hands and chronic Bursitis in both shoulders.I have had OA for over 30 yrs.Iam 69 yrs old and have been walking 5 days a week since I retired 15 yrs ago.

I am 54 years old. diagnoised with osteioarthritis three years ago. i am active in the daytime; walking 3 to 5 miles. along with resistive weight training and i kayak daily in the summer months. the docote tryed numerous medications including celebrex, viox etc. with no relief. i was placed on flexeril for nitetime use. pain management is fine in the day but if i sit for more than an hour and in the evenings with bedtime is when i freeze up. difficuty moving, getting up and intense pain at nite. any suggestions?

I have heard if you have a knee replacement you will need to have another one in about 10 years,do you find this to be true? I have already had one knee replacement a year ago and I am having another one done on the other knee soon.So I have a lot of concern if this is true.Would it help to be less active to keep the replacement knee’s from having to be done again.
