What type of walking regimen is recommended for someone with OA of the knee?

Have you heard of a procedure to implant a pad in the knee to replace missing cartilage. A procedure to ease bone on bone rubbing and done as an outpatient?

I recently started Synvisc injections on my knee. The pain during the injection was excrutiating – so much so that the doctor did not finish the last injection. Is this common? Could the doctor have been doing it wrong or is there something else happening?

My mum meenu, who is 54 has osteoarthritis in both her knees. She weights around 70 kilos and is 5ft 2 inches.Her mother, as well as her four aunts and all her cousins have osteoarthritis. She has recently joained a gym, and for a cardio activity cycles for aroung 10-15 mins. She says that after a week, the cycling has worsened the pain in her kneees, and is afraid that cycling will further damage her cartilage. What effect does cycling have on the knees, and if it is infact detremental to her well being, can she engage in any other cardio activity?

After having hyalgan treatments the pain in the knee is returning. The pain is not as bad as it was before the treatments but I am beginning to think it will continue to get worse as time goes on. Does this mean knee replacement should be considered?
