Can you explain how AS and tendonitis go together. I have just been diagnosed with AS and the Dr. said it also explains my wrist tendon and shoulder tendon problems.
Skin Discoloration and Plaquenil
I have a mild form of rheumatoid arthritis serum positive, treated with Plaquinel 400mg daily and Naproxan 1000mg daily for the past 6 years. I have had no problems with the arthritis in all that time and still don’t. My question is about the Plaquinel. This summer I started having skin discoloration on the top of both of my feet. The color of my skin turned a deep blackish blue color. Could this be caused by the Plaquinel and a reaction with sunbathing? Since being out of the sun the blackish blue color has faded but I can still see some discoloration in areas. How can I find out for sure if this is caused by my meds? And if it is caused by Plaquinel is skin discoloration reason enough to stop taking it? Having a mild disease I would hate to go onto stronger meds unless it is necessary.
Treating Rheumatoid Arthritis
Just diagnosed for RA. My Anti CCP score was over 250. Doctor said it was one of the highest she’s ever seen. No joint damage yet (from the xrays.) But I’m being put on Plaquenil, which is apparently for milder arthritis. Doesn’t my high CCP score indicate an agressive form of the disease, and shouldn’t I be on a stronger medication? thank you….
Stair Climbing and Osteoarthritis
My wife is 41, moderately active and the ortho told her she’s got arthritis in both knees. One is worse as she recently injured it. Besides PT and drugs, would reducing stair climbing help? We live in a 2 story house and she’s a homemaker, so she’s up & down the stairs at least 10x per day. Would moving to a one story house help: A) relieve her knee pain, B) delay the progression of arthitis, C) delay more aggressive treatments (i.e. eventual knee replacement she might need – her dad had double TKR at age 60)?? We want to keep maximum mobility during middle age. Thanks.
Psoriatic Arthritis and DMARDs
I am 32 and recently diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. If I am able to manage my pain, why should I start DMARDS? I think if I can control my stress, then I can get this disease into remission with no drugs.
Options with Coumadin
I was placed on Coumadin 3 months ago and was simultaneously taken off of anti-inflammatory drugs that I was on for years for bilateral knee osteoarthritis and PRN anti-inflammatories for gouty arthritis flares. To date, none of my caregivers will support any on board meds other than tylenol and narcotics. I can’t imagine millions of individuals on coumadin w/OA not having some other options! Please help.
