Question
I recently started Synvisc injections on my knee. The pain during the injection was excrutiating – so much so that the doctor did not finish the last injection. Is this common? Could the doctor have been doing it wrong or is there something else happening?
Answer
Although the injections can be painful, they are generally “tolerable”. In my experience, virtually patients finish the injection series. If the arthritis of the knee is severe, the joint space can be small making the injections difficult and more painful.
