Answer
The spondyloarthropathies include the diseases ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, Reiter’s or reactive arthritis, and the arthritis associated with inflammatory bowel disease. A common feature of these diseases is inflammation in the spine that can progress to spinal fusion as well as an inflammatory peripheral arthritis. Depending on the disease, inflammation can also occur in the bowel and skin. Treatments are similar to RA and include methotrexate, imuran, precdnisone, NSAIDs sulfasalazine and now the TNF inhibitors.
