Question
What type of walking regimen is recommended for someone with OA of the knee?
Answer
Walking, although likely not damaging to the knee, often makes the pain worse. However, for most walking is an enjoyable, easily availale exercise. If possible, try to lessen the impact by finding a flat, softer surface. Synthetic tracks (found in schools) or non-concrete trails would be good. Treadmills or elliptical trainers are also good.
