Rita Falcone, M.D.
Dr. Falcone is the Director of the Comprehensive Vascular Center at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Baltimore, Maryland. Her areas of specialization include echocardiography with expertise in the areas of transthoracic echocardiography, stress testing and transesophageal echocardiograms. She is the Associate Director of Non-Invasive Imaging and an attending in the Cardiac Intensive Care unit at Hopkins Bayview. She is an Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and in Cardiovascular Medicine. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the Council on Stroke and Radiology of the American Heart Association. He has incorporated the musculoskeletal ultrasound technology for diagnostic and interventional purposes in patient care and research.
Research Interests:
Dr Pappas is the awardee of the prestigious MARRC Senior Fellowship award for his laboratory based research which was focused on the role of the enzyme PAD4 in the pathogenesis of Rheumatoid arthritis. His clinical – translational research project is investigating the specifics of interstitial lung disease in Rheumatoid Arthritis. Dr Pappas is also involved in registry based research and in comparative effectiveness studies for therapeutic agents used in Rheumatoid Arthritis.
